Youth Group

The youth group is a very active group of young people of secondary school age.   Led by the rector and Clare Hooper, they pursue an interesting and imaginative programme of meetings and events. These events are divided each month into the informal and  formal on a regular schedule:  that is, on the first Sunday of each month there is an informal meeting ranging from things like a cinema visit to a go-karting evening, and on the third Sunday of each month there is a formal evening at The Rectory. But note that this routine is suspended during August and resumes with the informal evening at The Rectory at the beginning of September.

Each year the Youth Group enjoy a weekend away.  In 2006, for example, they stayed at the YMCA on the Isle of Wight and as this photograph shows, they had a really cool time!

Update — February 2008

Despite the horrible weather, our ice skating trip to Winchester Cathedral was great.   Luck was definitely with us as it stopped raining about half an hour before our session and didn’t start again until five minutes after everyone was off the ice!   The Christmas party was fun – thanks to Jim for the quiz (and the chocolate) and to Jack for the music.  As you can see from the picture below, the Christmas party helpers had a bit of knees-up, too! 

Emma is thinking about setting up a Youth Group website on which we can post information about our activities/photos etc.  Sounds like a great idea and I’m sure she would welcome any ideas you might have.  We could include a news page, ‘Joke of the Month’, forthcoming events etc, etc.  Give it some thought and let me know:  Clare Hooper 877406
