St Wilfrid Pilgrimage Trail

Wilfrid was born in Northumberland in 634 and we know something of his life from the writings of the Venerable Bede in the early eighth century.  Wilfrid was born into a wealthy family at a time of religious upheaval.  Wilfrid’s parents had become Christian, and when his mother died when he was thirteen he was sent to Lindisfarne for his education in the Celtic Christian tradition under the Celtic St Aidan and later in the Catholic tradition in Rome.

In 658 he returned to England  and then began a long period of Christian teaching and ministry, some of which was spent in the Meon Valley.  For more information about St Wilfrid and in particular about the Pilgrimage Trail, go to www.wilfrid-meon-pilgrimage.co

What are 'fresh expressions' of church?

A fresh expression is a form of church for our changing culture, established primarily for the benefit of people who are not yet members of any churchFresh expressions:

  • Serve those outside church;
  • Listen to people and enter their culture;
  • Make discipleship a priority;
  • Form church.

Here in the Meon Bridge Benefice we have Café Lite, which meets on the

third Sunday in each month in Droxford Village Hall.
